You are well-advised to read any program documentation and make a RELIABLE BACKUP before attempting any changes. Many have "disk" in their name, although disks, especially internal ones, are now a thing of the past. Macs simply do not need "cleaning." (See for example: ) Some of these programs are notorious for being little more than malware. True experts in macOS maintenance advise against using any of them, because in general they serve little useful purpose and they can easily do more harm than good. Most of the developers' descriptions boast about what a great job they do, but the truth is, there are no good, comprehensive, head-to-head reviews of these programs by impartial 3rd parties. Many - probably the most accurate and honest - have negative reviews, by users who have been burned by them. Many have what look to be essentially fake 5-star reviews with no useful commentary. There are now 76 (that's SEVENTY-SIX) programs in the list, and it seems like new entries in the 'Mac cleaner' market space pop up every day, metastasizing like a cancer. Before you even *think* of installing any of them, PLEASE read this. As a public service to the MacUpdate community, I've found as many of these "cleaner" apps on this website as I could and listed them them below. It sort of came out of nowhere but really proved itself over and over.This is not a review per se, it is a discussion of the class of software to which this program belongs. Just a couple more random thoughts: unless another developer takes over for Reggie (RIP), I would suspect updates to AppDelete are no more MacRemover & Osx Uninstaller look to be from the same develper but definitely not worth $30 I chose App Unistaller over its Mac App Store version due to not being sandboxed, but also picked up TrashMe. I think any of these four should definitely be on your short list if you are looking for a Mac uninstaller. Whats more, I preferred their UI quite a bit more than the other two, but obviously this is personal preference. Between these four, App Uninstaller and TrashMe took it by a nose at the finish line. They consistently found more applicable files then the rest. They are: iTrash, AppDelete, App Uninstaller, and TrashMe. Very quickly, a "Top Tier" separated itself for the rest. I chose 20 apps from quite a wide spectrum (Apple Apps, VPN's, games, Adobe products, photo editors, email programs, etc.) and then used each program to show me the related files that it found. The items you delete will be moved to the trash and arranged in a folder so that you can see exactly what was deleted and you know exactly where it came from. Without AppDelete these associated items will be left behind to take up space and potentially cause issues. AppDelete is an uninstaller that will remove not only applications but also widgets, preference panes, plugins, and screensavers along with their associated files.
